ElectraSyn flow 6 – 18
ElectraSyn flow 6-18 & ElectraSyn flow 6-18 HC are the pilot-scale flow electrolysis systems from IKA. They are innovative systems for continuous electrosynthesis. Inside the electrosynthesis flow cell, two electrodes are installed in parallel and positioned close to each other. The HC (High Current) version is equipped with a more powerful power supply.
Two current-carrying cables connect the electrodes – anode and cathode – to a power supply and apply direct current. The electrical current can be adjusted continuously. The set direct current enforces the electrochemical reaction (oxidation and reduction) within the flow cell, thereby producing the desired product via electrosynthesis.
An electrosynthesis cell consists of two half-cells; each half-cell is equipped with integrated heating and cooling channels. This allows the temperature of each electrode to be controlled according to the process requirements. The ElectraSyn flow 6-18 & ElectraSyn flow 6-18 HC flow cell can be expanded with additional flow cells in series (recirculation) and/or parallel (to increase throughput). The system’s seals also allow the distance between the two electrodes to be adjusted. If required, an ion-permeable membrane can be inserted into the system to divide the cell chamber.
